    This is a disgusting betrayal of America and a violation of our process, given Congress passed a law and it was then unanimously upheld by the Supreme Court. Unless Trump can show that Bytedance met the three conditions that permit an extension, this will backfire and alienate a portion of his base.

      I don't think it will backfire for him politically.

      Despite previously being for a TikTok ban, and despite it being his court upholding the ban, I think what's going to stick in people's minds is "only Trump can save TikTok".

      His base doesn't want due process. If he single-handedly beats Congress and the Supreme Court, that's a huge W for him.

        Per polls, his base (Republicans) supports a ban of TikTok more strongly than Democrats.
